My first model of a Barrel

When I started making this model I had almost no clue how to model and had to be taught through all the steps, but eventually I made the barrel and went on to texture it begin texturing it. for now I will talk through how I made the model; first I made a cylinder and extruded It up until it was the height I wanted it. Secondly I made a cut round the middle of the barrel to and bevelled it to give it a curved edge, then I deleted both the top and bottom faces. after that I extruded both the bottom and top edge inwards and down to give it a lip around the edges. Finally I bridged the top and bottom lib closed. to seal the model.

The next stage to do was unwrapping and texturing the model. which was a crazy experience for me as I had never seen anything like this before, anyway the process went as such; I selected the 3 different parts of the model and unwrapped them individually. the top and bottom of the barrel I did as a planar unwrap and the outside of the barrel I had to unwrap as a cylinder which resulted in the UV map below. This was then imported into Photoshop in order to grab a texture from the internet and place it onto the UV map and manipulated it to fit, unfortunately i did not complete my project and the texturing was not complete but i am keeping in mind that this was my first attempt at any of this and did not fully understand what i was doing which i do now.
